Posted on Oct 27, 2012, 6:51 PM

The George Washington University continues to monitor forecasts and reports regarding Hurricane Sandy as it travels north along the east coast of the United States. Current models from the National Weather Service call for Sandy to make landfall on the east coast on Sunday evening near the Delaware Peninsula. As the storm progresses inland, the Washington metropolitan region may experience sustained winds and strong rain increasing from Sunday morning through Tuesday, with the most severe weather occurring Sunday night through Monday. This is a slow moving storm that is expected to cause flooding and wind damage. Models will continue to change as the storm approaches and if the situation warrants, the GW Campus Advisories website and the GW Information Line (202) 994-5050 will be updated with additional information.

Hurricane Preparedness Measures

While there currently are no hurricane watches or warnings for the Washington Metropolitan Area, GW community members, on and off campus, are encouraged to take a few minutes to review their personal preparedness measures.
