Mount Vernon Campus - Internet Outage

August 19, 2023

On Friday, August 18th, at 7:30 pm, we started receiving notices of network outages on the Mount Vernon Campus. GW IT Technicians investigated the issue with partners and determined that a fiber cable connecting Mount Vernon to the internet was cut off campus. While we cannot yet estimate a time of resolution, GW IT Technicians are working with third-party service providers to restore services as quickly as possible.

As a result of the internet outage, GWORLD readers at the Mount Vernon Campus are offline. Campus Living and Residential Education Staff are providing building access to individuals impacted by the outage. Move-in is continuing as scheduled, with additional staff available to support.

Staff supporting the health and safety of the Mount Vernon Campus, including GWPD, Facilities, EMeRG, and Environmental Health and Safety, have access to the campus and continue to provide support services. The GW Emergency Number (202-994-6111) remains operational for any emergency requests.
