Traffic Advisory: Street Closings and Parking Restrictions for the Millions More Movement Oct. 14-15, 2005

 

The Metropolitan Police Department released the following street closings and parking restrictions for the Millions More Movement this weekend.

 

This is to advise the public that several streets will be closed to vehicular traffic and parking will be prohibited this weekend to accommodate the Millions More Movement events on and around the National Mall. In addition, the public is advised of the Metropolitan Police Department's plans to activate its Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras during this event.

 

 

Street Closings

 

From approximately 12 noon on Friday, October 14, 2005, until approximately 12 midnight on Saturday, October 15, 2005, the following street will be closed to vehicular traffic:

 

Maryland Avenue, SW, from 3rd Street to Independence Avenue, SW

 

From 8 pm on Friday, October 14, until 12 midnight on Saturday, October 15,

the following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:

-        Constitution Avenue, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue to 12th Street,

NW

-      6th Street, NW, from Constitution Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue,

NW

 

From 5 am until midnight on Saturday, October 15, the following streets will

be closed to vehicular traffic:

 

-        Jefferson Drive, SW, from 3rd Street to 14th Street, NW

-       Madison Drive, NW, from 3rd Street to 14th Street, NW

 

From 6 am until midnight on Saturday, October 15, the following streets will

be closed to vehicular traffic:

 

-         3rd Street, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue to Constitution Avenue,

NW

-        4th Street, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue to Constitution Avenue,

NW

 

Based upon the size of the crowds that attend this event, the following

streets will be closed as necessary on October 15:

 

-       7th Street, from Independence Avenue, SW, to Pennsylvania Avenue,

NW

-       9th Street, NW, from Constitution Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue,

NW

-        10th Street, NW, from Constitution to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

 

 

Parking Restrictions

 

From 10 am on Friday, October 14, until 11:30 pm on Saturday, October 15,

parking will be prohibited on the following streets:

 

-         Maryland Avenue, SW, from 3rd Street to Independence Avenue, SW

-        Constitution Avenue, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue to 12th Street,

NW

 

From 6:30 pm on Friday, October 14, until 11:30 pm on Saturday, October 15,

parking will be prohibited on the following street:

 

-        Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, from 3rd Street to 15th Street, NW

 

From 11 pm on Friday, October 14, until 11:30 pm on Saturday, October 15,

parking will be prohibited on the following streets:

 

-         3rd Street, from Independence Avenue, SW, to E Street, NW

-         4th Street, from Independence Avenue, SW, to Pennsylvania Avenue,

NW

-         6th Street, NW, from Constitution Avenue, NW, to Massachusetts

Avenue, NW

-         7th Street, from Independence Avenue, SW, to Massachusetts Avenue,

NW

-         12th Street, from Independence Avenue, SW, to New York Avenue, NW

-         14th Street, from Independence Avenue, SW, to New York Avenue, NW

 

 

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)

 

In addition, the Metropolitan Police Department will activate its network of

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras during the Millions More Movement

event.  Beginning at approximately 6 am on Saturday, October 15, 2005, the

Department will activate its network of CCTV cameras as a routine measure to

help police monitor for any suspicious or unusual activities in the downtown

area.  No additional cameras outside the existing network will be deployed.

Barring any unusual circumstances, the cameras will be deactivated soon

after the event concludes on Saturday night.
