DC Area Road and School Closures

The following update is provided to the University community regarding the status of public schools, road closures and public transportation.

Incident at Navy Yard in SE, DC

September 16, 2013 11:08 a.m.
Earlier this morning there was a shooting incident at the Navy Yard in southeast Washington, DC. The George Washington University remains open and operating on a normal schedule. The University's Office of Safety and Security continues to monitor this situation and remains in contact with local and federal partners.

March on Washington Road Closures, Wednesday, August 28

The 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington will conclude Wednesday, August 28th with the Let Freedom Ring Commemoration and Call to Action Ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial. While commemoration activities coincide with GW's Welcome Week schedule and the start of classes, we do not anticipate disruptions to normal operations.
