Eye Street closures

Partial street closures are expected on Saturday, December 28 and January 4 from 6am until 6pm on the 2100 block of Eye Street NW for the installation of West End's steel support towers. During this time all garages on Eye Street will be accessible.

Police activity near Embassy of Sweden resolved

Police activity near the Embassy of Sweden has been resolved. HOVA is now open to residents and those who use the parking garage. Roads are clearing, although residual delays may occur. Check for additional preparedness tips and safety information.

The university is open and operating on a normal schedule for Tuesday, December 10, 2013. Biostatistics Center (Rockville, MD) will open at 10:00 a.m., today, December 9

Due to adverse weather conditions, the Biostatistics Center (Rockville, MD) will be opening late at 10:00 a.m., today, Monday, December 9, 2013. All other GW locations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area are open and operating on a normal schedule.

Street Closures, Parking Restrictions, and Metrobus Detours for National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Friday, December 6

The National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony near the White House will begin at 4:30 p.m. with street closures expected between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

New Hampshire Ave Gas Line Replacement - Emergency Lane Closures

November 22, 2013
Full closure will start Friday, November 22, 2013 and conclude on Monday, December 9, 2013 from Washington Circle at New Hampshire Avenue, NW intersection both the northbound and southbound lanes will be closed to vehicular traffic due to emergency gas work. Washington Gas must relocate an existing 24” gas transmission line from New Hampshire Avenue at Washington Circle headed south towards 24th Street, NW. Pedestrians will continue to move through the corridor during the street closure. George Washington University Hospital’s driveways will remain open to emergency vehicles. The closure is needed to replace and relocate nearly 200 feet of an existing 24” gas main. The new gas main will be buried an additional 3 to 4 feet from top of road surface. International Monetary Fund/World Bank Meetings, October 11-13, 2013

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank will host their fall meetings at the IMF/World Bank complex and some GW venues in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, DC from Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 13. Parking restrictions, sidewalk and road closures and detours are expected near the IMF/World Bank due to security perimeters. Pedestrian access to university facilities will be maintained throughout the weekend. The Vern Express, connecting the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses, is not expected to be affected by the IMF/World Bank meetings.

Police Activity near the US Capitol

October 3, 2013 3:09 p.m.
A shooting occurred this afternoon near the Capitol Building. At the time, Capitol Hill was put on lock down. This lock down has since been lifted. The suspect is deceased and an investigation has begun. GW Safety and Security continues to monitor the situation. Should the situation warrant, updates will be provided on Campus Advisories.
