GW Operating Status Changes for Thursday, January 31

January 30, 2019

[Updated: Wednesday, January 30; 10:15 p.m.]—On Thursday, January 31, GW’s on-campus and online classes will be held as normally scheduled. However, all administrative offices will open at 9:30 a.m. because of weather conditions throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

The delayed office opening is for all of GW’s area campuses including, Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia Science and Technology campuses, Biostatistics Center, Alexandria and Arlington graduate education centers, and other locations throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

If there are any changes to dining, transportation, library hours, NCAA athletic events and other university services overnight, they will be posted at GW Campus Advisories. Please check the site frequently for the latest updates.

Employees classified as Designated On-Site are required to report to and/or remain at work. Employees classified as Essential are generally expected to telecommute, and employees classified as Non-Essential are not required to work unless directed to do so by a supervisor. If you are unsure of your classification, please ask your supervisor.

As a reminder to our campus community, especially our new community members:

The university's operating status is evaluated on a daily basis. If there is a need to alter the university's operating status because of adverse weather, university officials will do their best to make decisions by 5 a.m. for morning operations and/or classes or by 4 p.m. for evening operations and/or classes. Sometimes conditions enable the university to make an earlier decision.

If there is change to the university's status, information will be communicated through the following ways:
