From DC Department of Transportation:
(Washington, D.C.) New Hampshire Avenue Reconstruction/Resurfacing Project:
Full closure will start Friday, November 22, 2013 and conclude on Monday, December 9, 2013 from Washington Circle at New Hampshire Avenue, NW intersection both the northbound and southbound lanes will be closed to vehicular traffic due to emergency gas work. Washington Gas must relocate an existing 24” gas transmission line from New Hampshire Avenue at Washington Circle headed south towards 24th Street, NW. Pedestrians will continue to move through the corridor during the street closure. George Washington University Hospital’s driveways will remain open to emergency vehicles. The closure is needed to replace and relocate nearly 200 feet of an existing 24” gas main. The new gas main will be buried an additional 3 to 4 feet from top of road surface. All construction activities are contingent upon weather conditions.
Motorists are advised to stay alert as they travel through or near this work zone area and to plan ahead to minimize delays while traveling through this corridor.
