Power Outage at West Hall on Mount Vernon Campus

[Updated: 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 4] - West Hall on the Mount Vernon Campus and some homes in the surrounding neighborhood are experiencing a power outage.

Pepco has informed the university that there is an issue with a nearby transformer and is working to restore power to the area as soon as possible. Pepco has informed the university that they hope to restore power to GW’s Mount Vernon Campus overnight.  

The university currently has a generator running life-safety equipment in the building, including one elevator, emergency lighting and the building’s fire alarm system. However, individual rooms, meeting spaces and the Pelham Commons Dining area are otherwise without power.  

Pelham Commons Dining in West Hall is currently closed. Limited grab-and-go food service is operating out of Ames Hall. Within West Hall, the Fitness Center, Blackbox Theatre, Recording and Dance Studios, as well as all meeting rooms will be closed until power is fully restored.

GW community members traveling from Foggy Bottom to Mount Vernon Campus for a meeting or event in West Hall, please check with the event’s organizer about the new location.  West Hall residents will continue to receive separate updates.
