Special Event Advisory

President Barack Obama will visit GW on Monday, Dec. 8, to be interviewed during a special episode of the "The Colbert Report" filmed at Lisner Auditorium. 

The president's appearance on campus will necessitate street, sidewalk and parking garage access restrictions in the surrounding area. Please note the following changes for Monday, Dec. 8:

Road and sidewalk closures between 2 and 5 p.m.:

  • H Street between 20th and 22nd streets, NW
  • 21st Street between Eye and G streets, NW
  • Sidewalks on H Street between Kogan Plaza and 21st Street, NW

Parking restrictions between 2 and 5 p.m.:

  • H Street between 20th and 22nd streets, NW
  • 21st Street between Eye and G streets, NW
  • Follow instructions for all temporary no parking signs.

Building and parking garage information:

  • The Marvin Center will remain open. Only the Eye Street entrance will be open and accessible until the conclusion of the event.
  • Nearby academic and administrative buildings, including the Media and Public Affairs Building, Gelman Library and Samson and Corcoran halls, will remain open for the duration of the event.
  • The Marvin Center and Media and Public Affairs Building parking garages will be closed between 2 and 5 p.m.
  • Parking for occasional parkers and visitors who regularly park in the Marvin Center or Media and Public Affairs Building garages will be available at the G Street Garage, accessible from both 20th and 21st streets between F and G streets.
  • Deliveries will not be permitted and loading docks on the streets mentioned above will be inaccessible between 2 and 5 p.m.
