Statement on Roof Fire at Fulbright Hall

At approximately 3:15 a.m., the fire alarm sounded in Fulbright Hall alerting DC Fire and EMS and GWPD. Upon immediate inspection, it was determined that there were flames on the roof of the building. By 3:30 a.m., DC Fire had the scene under control and the fire was put out. The fire damage was contained to the roof deck. DC Fire investigators are looking into the cause of the fire and GW’s Operations team is assessing the upper floors of the building for water damage. No injuries were reported and the building is reoccupied. 

Fulbright Hall is an eight-story residence hall housing approximately 225 second year students. Students were evacuated to a nearby building. The Division of Student Affairs is working directly with the residents of the building. Residents who think they have damage to their unit are being asked to submit a request to FixIT (202-994-6706).
