Street Closures, Parking Restrictions and Metrobus Detours for National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Thursday, December 1st

The annual National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on the White House Ellipse on Thursday, December 1st. The ceremony begins at 5:00 p.m.

Road closures for this event are expected to be place from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. Roads closed for vehicular traffic are as followed:

  • Constitution Avenue, NW from 14th Street to 18th Street, NW
  • 15th Street, NW from New York Avenue to Constitution Avenue, NW
  • 17th Street, NW from New York Avenue to Constitution Avenue, NW

Metrobus is expecting detours and service disruption in the area. Check Metro's website (http://www.wmata.com/) for information.

Due to the heavy pedestrian crowds associated with this event, motorists are encouraged to exercise caution when traveling in these area.
