Build a Kit.

buildakitBuilding an emergency go-kit is an important first step to becoming prepared. Emergency and first-aid kits should be easily accessible and portable, in case you are needing to evacuate. It is recommended that you have separate go-kits for your home/residence hall, office and car. Every September, during National Preparedness Month, the Office of Emergency Management hosts the Safety Expo where participants have the chance to create their own emergency kits with supplies provided. If you would like an empty GW Emergency Kit bag to get you started, please fill out the Resources Request Form.

Have at least three days of supplies to sustain yourself. Recommended items*:

□ Water (one gallon per person per day)
□ Non-perishable food
□ Flashlight & extra batteries

□ Cash & some change
□ Clothes & comfortable shoes
