12/17 - VSTC in-person activities to be limited with delayed start of 10 AM

Loudoun County Transit will operate the Route 72 Wiehle Express. This route will begin with a 2 hour delay with the first trip picking up at Wiehle Metro Station at 8:12 am.

FOGGY BOTTOM CAMPUS AND DMV ACADEMIC CENTERS:

The winter weather advisory remains in effect in the District until 1 am Thursday, December 17th.  Today's mix of precipitation will continue overnight, ending around 1 am. The National Weather Service predicts total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 2 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch.  The morning commute may include slippery road conditions; please use caution and allow for extra time.

FOGGY BOTTOM CAMPUS AND DMV ACADEMIC CENTERS STATUS:

The university will continue its current operational status through virtual learning, telework and limited in-person activities on the FOGGY BOTTOM CAMPUS AND DMV ACADEMIC CENTERS. Students, faculty and staff currently learning, teaching and working remotely should continue to do so. Designated on-site employees should contact their supervisor for reporting instructions to ensure a safe commute to work. Any student with clinical responsibilities should check with their clinical supervisor for further instruction.  If any student with clinical responsibilities feels that the conditions are unsafe and are not able to make it in, please let your resident, attending physician, or clinical instructor know.

The COVID-19 testing centers at the Foggy Bottom Campus will remain open. Members of the Fall 2020 on-campus cohort who are scheduled for a COVID-19 test on Thursday but are unable to travel to Foggy Bottom due to the inclement weather should reschedule their test for the next available appointment when they return to campus.

VSTC:

Loudoun County is still under a winter storm warning until 4 am Thursday, December 17th. Today eastern Loudoun received heavy mixed precipitation with total snow and sleet accumulations over 3 inches. More heavy mixed precipitation expected overnight.  Expect challenges to travel including hazardous conditions that could impact the morning or evening commute. Please use caution and allow extra time.

VSTC STATUS:

In-person activities at VSTC will be limited and will have a delayed start of 10 AM to complete weather safety measures. All virtual learning and telework activities will continue at their originally scheduled time. Designated on-site employees should contact their supervisor for reporting instructions to ensure a safe commute to work.
