A Message from Scott Burnotes
On May 13, 2020, Mayor Muriel Bowser extended the “stay-at-home” order for District of Columbia residents until June 8, 2020. Residents are ordered to continue to avoid all non-essential travel in D.C.
Area governments are currently planning for phased re-opening of cities and towns, though specifics have not yet been announced. The George Washington University is working closely with local officials and monitoring announcements of any phased re-opening. When GW receives information regarding the re-opening of the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland, we will provide our community members with clear guidelines of how our campuses will follow suit.
There are currently no changes to the status of employees returning to our campuses. Students living on campus should only leave their residence in accordance with D.C. guidelines. Only designated on-site employees should travel to and from our campuses. Current telework requirements for our employees and guidance for designated on-site employees remain in place.
We have mentioned it before, but it bears repeating: continue to take care of yourself and one another during this taxing and stressful time. We are all living in a world that feels far removed from the one we enjoyed just a few short months ago. During this period of uncertainty, take time to practice self-care and prioritize your physical, mental and emotional well-being. Check in on your friends, family and colleagues and offer your support when you can.
If you need emergency assistance, please call GWPD at 202-994-6111 or 911.
