The National Weather Service has issued Wind and Winter Weather Advisories for Saturday, March 12, 2022, affecting the Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia Science and Technology campuses.

Rain will develop Friday night and will mix with and change to snow from Saturday morning through 5 PM. Rain and snow accumulation between 2" and 4" is possible. Visibility will be reduced to less than one quarter of a mile and near blizzard conditions may be present between 8 AM and 11 AM.

Strong winds will develop Saturday afternoon and will continue through early Sunday morning. Sustained northwest winds of 12-14 mph, gusts of 30-40 mph are likely, and peak gusts up to 55 mph could occur. Wind will be strongest from the late morning to early evening on Saturday

Strong winds can cause tree branches and other debris to fall, use caution when travelling during these time periods. If utility outages occur, report them to emergency maintenance (202-994-6706) or GWPD (202-994-6111).
