Fall Semester Schedule of Classes

July 17, 2020

Dear Students,

The university is committed to developing an approach for a safe return to on-campus instruction and a residential academic experience in the fall that is flexible in order to support all our students and faculty. We understand that you are eagerly awaiting details on the method of instruction for your fall courses, as you have very personal decisions to make with your families about the semester.

The schedule of classes is updated on a daily basis. Nearly all in-person courses will allow for a combination of in-person and online attendance. Exceptions will be noted in course comments. Some courses will be taught fully online as part of the COVID response plan and are designated as “REMOTE INSTR.” Please note that online courses which are part of an online degree program or courses that have historically been offered online will remain in their current designation of “ON LINE.”

The in-person and remote class schedules are based on our most current model for fall operations which is, of course, subject to change based on pandemic conditions. Based on this model, we expect to have a final schedule of classes in early August. Students can log onto Banner and see the latest information available regarding their courses. The university understands that students may need to adjust their presence in all classes based on their personal health situation and other circumstances.

Students who have a fall housing assignment but choose to stay at home and take all of their classes via online remote learning for the fall semester can cancel their housing with no penalty prior to July 27. Please submit your housing assignment cancelation request via the Campus Living e-Services page, and select the "Distance Learning Option" from the menu to cancel your fall housing assignment and meal plans. We will accept and process cancelations as received, but urge you to inform us as soon as possible so that we may prepare our halls for student arrivals. Please note, that if you have items that were packed and stored, letting GW know your housing intentions as soon as possible will better help us reunite you with your packed items.

We are doing all we can to ensure a healthy and safe environment and provide the GW community with timely update about what the fall semester will look like. We will continue to provide information as it is available. Once again, we appreciate your patience during these unprecedented times.

Sincerely,

M. Brian Blake
