The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for (NCR) National Capital Region from  August 20, 2021 0735 EDT to 1345  EDT.

Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

***UPDATE***

NWS has cancelled all NCR Flash Flood Warnings. Heavy rain has ended but light rain continues. Flooding is ongoing but the threat for the rapid rise in water levels has ended.

Roadways previously closed due to high water are beginning to reopen.

We know that you are eager to move-in, but we want you to be safe! If you do not feel comfortable driving, please take your time. And remember the guidance to turn around, don’t drown if you encounter flooded roads. We will be here when you arrive to help and If you need to arrive later in the day, please do.

If it will be past 8 pm when you arrive, please refer to the Final Details email we sent earlier in the week or the Check-in Stations Reminder email we sent last night on how to check-in and if we need to keep our stations open a bit longer because of the weather we will.

In the event of an emergency situation that would impact campus operations, GW’s Safety and Emergency Management team will issue a GW Text and Email Alert.

All registered students are automatically signed up to receive GW email alerts. You can manage your own account. If you want to receive GW text alerts to your mobile device, you must add your mobile number to the GW Alert System. Visit the GW Alert FAQs for the instructions.
