July 19, 2024 - Nationwide Microsoft System Outages

Early last night, Microsoft systems nationwide experienced outages due to a problem with an update to the CrowdStrike system. System crashes had major effects on transportation and communication systems nationwide.

As of now, the District of Columbia is reporting no impacts to 911 or 311 services, and WMATA is reporting that all rail and bus routes are operating as scheduled. For timely Metro information, please visit WMATA X (Twitter.)

GW University systems are minimally affected by this outage. Technology Services Status site provides information about technology services at The George Washington University.
