Library of Congress Bomb Threat 8/19


August 19, 2021

There is an active bomb threat investigation near the Library of Congress. Nearby buildings are being evacuated and some are under shelter-in-place orders. Please avoid the area. 

WMATA Orange/Silver/Blue Line trains are bypassing Capitol South. Shuttle buses have been requested. 

There is no threat to campus.

  • Suspect in custody.
  • Associated road closures remain in place
  • Per MTA, commuter bus riders can anticipate delays and/or detours around this area until streets are reopened this afternoon.
  • WMATA Orange/Silver/Blue Line trains are still bypassing Capitol South Metro Station

Still no threat to campus.

US Capitol Police reports the police activity has cleared and the associated road closures are now open to traffic.

WHS/DOD Shuttles Update:

DoD Shuttle Rt 7 (Pent – Cap Hill) has suspended operations for the rest of the day.  Anticipate that operations will resume on regular schedule tomorrow (August 20).
