To GW Community Members:
Due to a heightened threat environment across the United States, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin. DHS believes that there is currently a heightened threat environment across the United States. The Homeland continues to face a diverse and challenging threat environment leading up to and following the 20th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks as well religious holidays we assess could serve as a catalyst for acts of targeted violence.
We are not aware of any specific threats to campus. While this is a national bulletin, we want to make our community members aware of this information, especially due to the proximity of the Foggy Bottom campus to many federal government facilities and personnels, which have been targets of domestic violent extremists. We ask that you remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the GW Police Department.
Community members who experience or witness a bias related incident are encouraged to report it to the Office for Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement. Those who are affected by any form of harm or violence may contact the Office of Advocacy and Support.
