Operating Status Update for Sunday, January 25, 2026

January 23, 2026

Due to winter weather, all university campuses and centers are physically closed on Sunday, January 25, 2026; however, essential on-site staff should report to work as scheduled and remote instruction should take place as detailed below. Leaders and faculty are encouraged to provide flexibility for staff and students who may be impacted by weather-related disruptions.

This applies to the Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia Science and Technology campuses; the Biostatistics Center; and the Alexandria and Arlington Education centers.

The university will provide an update by early Sunday afternoon regarding its operating status for Monday.

Please note the following important information for Sunday:
Classes

  • No in-person classes will take place. However, faculty who teach in-person classes should use technology to continue classes online, if possible, and notify students directly of such arrangements as soon as possible. For in-person classes, laboratories, and studios that cannot be easily moved online, faculty should communicate with students about cancellations, makeup sessions, or other arrangements. Students should contact their faculty with any questions.
  • Online classes will proceed normally.
