Operating Status for Monday, February 23, 2026

Due to ongoing winter weather, all university campuses and centers will be open after a delayed start at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23. Important guidance for classes and work schedules follows below. Leaders and faculty are encouraged to provide flexibility for staff and students who may be impacted by weather-related disruptions.

This applies to the Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia Science and Technology campuses; the Biostatistics Center; and the Alexandria and Arlington education centers.

Classes

  • Faculty who teach in-person classes that begin prior to 11 a.m. should use technology to continue classes online, if possible, and notify students of such arrangements as soon as possible. Students with questions should contact their faculty directly.
  • In-person classes taking place at or after 11 a.m. will proceed normally.
  • All online classes will proceed normally.

Work Schedules

  • Essential on-site staff should report to work in person as scheduled. Contact your supervisor directly with any questions or concerns.
  • For other staff:
    • Staff typically scheduled to work in person on Mondays should report to work beginning at 11 a.m. Contact your supervisor directly with any questions or concerns.
    • Staff typically scheduled to telework on Mondays should telework beginning at normal business hours.

Clinical Enterprise

  • Those with clinical responsibilities should follow the guidance of your clinical coordinator or designated supervisor. An email will be sent with additional guidance from SMHS.
  • The GW Medical Faculty Associates and GW Hospital will be open and operating on a normal schedule.

Campus Services and Activities

  • Dining will be available beginning at 8 a.m.; check GW Dining’s Instagram for any additional updates.
  • Lerner Health and Wellness Center will operate on their normal schedule.
  • Depending on the time of in-person activities and events, they may be rescheduled or proceed normally. Check with the event organizer for updates.
