March 21, 2026 – Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon and 5k

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon and 5k will take place in Washington, DC. The 5k is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Half Marathon at 8:00 a.m. The race route will pass near GW’s Foggy Bottom campus and will result in road closures and parking restrictions. This event may impact the Foggy Bottom campus. Significant road closures are scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21. Major roads are expected to reopen between 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on March 21, depending on location. The course will begin on Constitution Avenue and travel toward the Foggy Bottom area, with the race finishing west of the U.S. Capitol Building. Increased pedestrian activity and vehicle traffic should be expected in and around the affected areas.

The GW Vex Shuttle will operate on a regular schedule; however, delays are possible due to road closures. All dining, campus, and other university services are expected to remain open and operate on their regular schedules.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) advises that there will be significant impacts to vehicular traffic on March 21, 2026.
