Operating Status Update for Monday, March 16, 2026

All university campuses and centers will be open on Monday, March 16, with instructional and administrative continuity to allow flexibility. Important guidance for classes and work schedules follows below. Leaders and faculty are encouraged to provide flexibility for staff and students who may be impacted by weather-related disruptions.

This applies to the Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia Science and Technology campuses; the Biostatistics Center; and the Alexandria and Arlington education centers.

Classes

  • Faculty should proceed with scheduled classes normally or notify students of alternate arrangements as soon as possible. Students with questions should contact their faculty directly.

Work Schedules

  • Essential on-site staff should report to work in person as scheduled. Contact your supervisor directly with any questions or concerns.
  • Staff typically scheduled to work in person on Mondays should report to work or contact your supervisor directly with any questions or concerns, including any questions about potential changes to a staff member’s schedule due to weather.
  • Staff typically scheduled to telework on Mondays may telework as normal.

Clinical Enterprise

  • Those with clinical responsibilities should follow the guidance of your clinical coordinator or designated supervisor.
  • The GW Medical Faculty Associates and GW Hospital will be open and operating on a normal schedule.

Campus Activities

  • In-person activities and events may be adjusted on a case-by-case basis. Check with the event organizer for updates.

  • Any further changes to the university’s operating status will be communicated via a GW Alert email sent to all GW email addresses and posted on Campus Advisories.

    • Seek shelter indoors in a low part of the building.
