Operating Status Update for Tuesday, January 27, 2026

January 26, 2026

Due to ongoing winter weather impacts, including hazardous road conditions across the region, all university campuses and centers are physically closed on Tuesday, January 27, 2026; however, staff should telework and remote instruction should take place as detailed below. Essential on-site staff should report to work as scheduled. Leaders and faculty are encouraged to provide flexibility for staff and students who may be impacted by weather-related disruptions.

This applies to the Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia Science and Technology campuses; the Biostatistics Center; and the Alexandria and Arlington Education centers.

The university will provide an update regarding Wednesday’s operational status by Tuesday afternoon. As this weather event continues, the university is deeply grateful to the many staff assisting in our response, especially essential on-site personnel who are working around the clock to return our campuses to normal operations.

Please note the following important information for Tuesday:

Classes

  • No in-person classes will take place. However, faculty who teach in-person classes should use technology to continue classes online, if possible, and notify students directly of such arrangements as soon as possible. For in-person classes, laboratories, and studios that cannot be easily moved online, faculty should communicate with students about cancellations, makeup sessions, or other arrangements. Students should contact their faculty with any questions.
  • Online classes will proceed normally.

Work Schedules

  • Essential on-site staff should report to work in person as scheduled. Contact your supervisor directly with any questions or concerns. Employees who are unsure if they are designated as essential should contact their supervisor.
  • All other staff should telework if work can be performed remotely. Contact your supervisor directly with any questions or concerns.

Clinical Enterprise
