Spring 2022 Test of GW’s Emergency Communication Systems

June 3, 2022

This is a TEST of George Washington University’s Emergency Communication Systems.

In addition to annual testing of its emergency communication systems, GW is conducting a TEST of new technology recently incorporated into these systems.

Today, GW is testing these systems. This is a TEST. No action is necessary.

In the event of an emergency, or for a change in the university’s operating status, updates and information will be posted to Campus Advisories.

If there is change to the university's status, information will be communicated to the campus community through the following methods:

  • GW SMS/text message

  • GW Email message

  • GW Guardian App

  • Social media via Twitter (@GWTweets, @GWPolice) and Facebook

  • GW's homepage

  • GW Information Line 1-885 GWU-INFO (855-498-4636)

  • Digital Signage on selected university-owned TVs

  • IP/Desk Phones

  • Desktop notifiers on university-owned computers

All GW community members with a GW email address are automatically signed up to receive GW email alerts. If you want to receive GW text alerts to your mobile device, you must add your mobile number to the GW Alert System. Visit the GW Alert FAQs for the instructions. When in the system, you can add up to 3 additional email addresses and mobile numbers to add friends or family who may also want to receive these notifications.

For preparedness tips and safety information, refer to the GW Emergency Response Handbook.
