Tropical Depression Ida Advisory #2

September 1, 2021

As the remnants of Hurricane Ida move through the D.C. area, heavy rain and severe weather are predicted between 3 and 7 p.m. Our area is currently under a tornado watch and we anticipate strong wind gusts. We also expect 2-4" of heavy rain.

Classes will continue as scheduled. We recommend planning ahead to avoid driving during this time and noting this protective guidance:

Do not walk, swim, or drive through flood waters. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

If a tornado warning is issued, take immediate action:

  • Go to a safe shelter immediately, such as a basement or a small interior room on the lowest level of a sturdy building.
  • Stay away from windows, doors, and outside walls.
  • Stay inside for the duration of a warning unless directed by emergency personnel.
