Tropical Storm Warning Isaias

GW Weather Advisory: The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the District of Columbia. 

On August 4, 2020 (Tuesday), access to all GW campuses will be limited to designated on-site personnel.

Please monitor your local news for the most up-to-date information about Tropical Storm Isaias.

Tropical Storm Isaias is forecast to become a hurricane later today and is currently located about 220 miles SSW of Myrtle Beach, SC. It is moving north at 13 mph with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. In the National Capital Region, rain is expected to begin as early as tonight, but the wind will begin to increase late tomorrow morning.

  • Common wind gusts of 40-50 mph with peak gusts to 60 mph are possible.
  • Rainfall totals of 4-6 inches with locally higher amounts to 8 inches will be possible.

By late Tuesday evening, rain and winds should begin to subside.
