Winter Weather Advisory 1/20/22

January 19, 2022

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Thursday, January 20th, 2022, from 6 AM to 1 PM, affecting both VSTC and the Washington, DC campuses.

Rain showers will begin on Wednesday evening and will transition to snow on Thursday morning at approximately 7 AM. Snow will continue through 1 PM, with accumulation estimates between 1 and 3 inches. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of snow is expected to accumulate on pavement, and road conditions may be hazardous during the morning commuting hours.

The university is open and does not anticipate any changes to our current operational status. Shuttles are expected to run on their normal schedule. GW Emergency Management will continue to monitor the weather forecast for our campuses and post updates, as needed, on Campus Advisories.

For preparedness tips and safety information, refer to GW’s Emergency Response Handbook or visit the Department of Homeland Security’s Ready.gov website for additional resources to help you plan ahead for emergencies.
